Who’s the best media pitcher you know?

Who’s the single best media pitcher you know?

Just share one name – nothing else required.

I’m digging into what sets the elite apart so I can sharpen future tips for you. (And yes, if you truly believe you’re the best, own it – put your own name down.)

Now that you’re thinking of that top pitcher, consider . . .

What trait or habit separates them from other PR pros?

When I run this exercise in workshops, one attribute surfaces more than any other. And it’s the same quality I see in our most successful Inner Circle members:

The most successful pitching pros I know are always reaching out to media.

They come in all pitching “personalities,” so different all-stars gravitate to different techniques. But nearly every day – often multiple times a day – they’re using some of the following techniques to stay in journalists’ inboxes, DMs, or, yes, even on the phone:

  • Reacting habitually to what journalists post on social
  • Emailing a quick thought on a reporter’s recent piece
  • Calling someone they’ve helped before
  • Pitching sources for breaking news
  • Sharing a loose angle early to get a friendly journalist’s take

They still craft the fully formed, polished pitch to cold contacts when they actually have legit news to share. What makes them special is they don’t wait around for those situations before reaching out.

Because my newsletters and webinars often hammer on best-practice precision, you might think every pitch has to be flawless or you’ll get flamed. Consider this a counterbalance:

Strive for excellence – but not at the cost of silence.

Loosen up. Show up. Good things happen when you do.

Please share one name – thanks in advance!

Your input will directly shape the insights I share next.
